Wistar Professor Chi Van Dang Named AACR Academy Fellow

PHILADELPHIA—(April 4, 2018)—Wistar Institute professor Chi Van Dang was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Academy Class of 2018. The AACR Academy honors distinguished scientists whose contributions have advanced innovation and progress against cancer and leverages their collective expertise to help prevent and cure all cancers through research, education, communication, and collaboration.

Dang is best known for his contributions to the understanding of the function of the Myc oncogene, commonly mutated in many cancers. His research has established Myc as a central regulator of cell proliferation and metabolism, a finding that has resulted in numerous studies devoted to understanding and targeting tumor metabolism as a novel approach to cancer therapy. More recently, Dang’s work has been focused on defining the role of circadian rhythm, clock genes and the immune system in Myc-mediated deregulation of cellular metabolism.

Dang, also Scientific Director of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, will be formally recognized during an induction ceremony at the AACR Annual Meeting on Friday, April 13, 2018.
