Join The Wistar Institute at the Philadelphia Science Festival's Carnival at Penn's Landing! Wistar scientists will be on hand all day as they help guests answer the question: "What's Inside Your Cells?" Take part in a "tasty" experiment to determine if you have taste blindness or are a supertaster and better understand how we inherit genetic traits from our parents. Also, build a felt cell to learn how cells work and the different jobs they do to keep us healthy and fight disease.
The Carnival at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing features more than 175 exhibitors offering non-stop, family-friendly experiments, interactive activities, games, and a packed line-up of live entertainment. In addition to Wistar's booth, visitors can enjoy activities like making slime, meeting live zoo animals, checking out the inner-workings of robots, taking a tour of a helicopter, extracting DNA from a strawberry, testing a “crime scene” for forensic evidence, and much more. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.
