On October 9, 2013, George Johnson, a science journalist who regularly contributes to The New York Times and several other prominent publications, is coming to The Wistar Institute as part of the ongoing Author Series (for more details, please visit this page). Prior to his visit, Johnson spoke with Wistar about his experience writing about cancer before approaching this book, the life circumstances that prompted him to tackle fascinating yet frustrating subject matter, and what attendees can expect at the event next week.
In addition to the Times, he has also written for Scientific American, The Atlantic, Time, Slate, and Wired, and his work has been included in The Best American Science Writing. A former Alicia Patterson fellow, he has received awards from PEN and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and his books were twice finalists for the Royal Society's book prize.
The event begins at 7 PM, followed by a book signing and dessert reception.
